Where did your path into natural skincare start?

‘I have actually been very much into all things beauty, organic skincare and foods since I was young. Also, I was quite keen on trying out mystic novities like hand palm reading or tasseography (fortune-telling in tea leaves or coffee grounds). Not because I couldn’t find the power within myself but out of sheer curiosity. I am highly sensitive, always have been. I can sense what people feel and the energies around them. So, I guess I was naturally drawn to this realm. My mother also always had tarot cards and astrology books lying around. At the same time, I am very much an Aries (laughs); very much in the here and now, with my feet planted firmly on the ground.’

How does that translate to your work?

‘Things need to work, simple as that. This approach extends to skincare. No fuss; backed by actual scientific results. So, when it comes to product, for instance, I have very high standards. Quality is non-negotiable for me. I like to use crystals in my treatments, which hold all kinds of vibrations, but not just any kind. Most of them on the market are made of glass, not of actual crystal. Rolling a jade stone over your cheek, some people love the feeling which is great. Though in reality it doesn’t do much for skin. If you use a certain shape of crystal to work deeply into the muscle, well, that makes a difference. Apart from that, I choose to work with clean beauty products. In my early twenties I struggled with eczema and found that green skincare helped me a lot. Yet some people’s skin needs a little extra, more active ingredients. That’s when I stumbled upon clean beauty: fusing all things great about green and natural and science.’

What would you say is your signature?

‘I love a very pure, glowy look. In a way that’s become my signature. You don’t need much if you have great skin that you, most of all, feel really great in. I find it important that people find a place with us to rest their mind. To energetically take their coat off, so to speak. First and foremost, I’m interested in people. It depends on the person whether I end up in deep conversation or just let someone be. Both is fine, as long as you feel at ease. At Skin Therapy we draw up a long-term plan to reach your skin goals. Whether you’re struggling with a certain skin condition like sagging skin or acne or just don’t feel like yourself in your own skin. The latter might just be in the mind. I’m intent on having anyone walking out the door feeling just a little better about themselves.’
